• tourist promotion featuring quite mobile camera work. The film shows in categorical form a number of the usual sites, such as the Stephansdom and details of its Gothic ornaments, the Belvedere and its white marble sculpture (shot against a black background), Schloß Schönbrunn, Heldenplatz, Prater, the 'Ring', Rathaus, and "the erstwhile Parliament", the latter two flying swastikas, while the Burgtheater is called "the most famous German theater". Also includes brief vignettes on Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, and Schubert, with excerpts of their music on the soundtrack. Johann Strauss’s 'An der schönen blauen Donau' gets the full treatment with a nocturnal, open-air ballet.
• the appellations "erstwhile Parliament" and "famous German theater" suggests that this Dutch-narrated film was released during the German occupation of the Netherlands (May 1940-May 1945). Whether or not this was copied from a German-language print cannot be established, as no similar title has been retrieved. Makes one wonder about the film’s Dutch distribution, because no company is mentioned or logo shown
• film has a typical tourist gaze, taking things in (Check. Check), without much depth or comprehension.
